About LRFC

Leckhampton Rovers Football Club

founded by parents for children to enjoy football.....

Leckhampton Rovers Football Club was founded by parents in 1996.

It is still run by parents and volunteers but now around 200 children, aged between 5 and 16, regularly play for the club. We operate within the FA’s guidelines concerning equal opportunities and anti-discrimination.

The club currently has 11 teams registered with Cheltenham Youth League and runs several non-league teams for the younger players. We play all our home games in Leckhampton at one of the following locations; Leckhampton Primary School, Naunton Park, the Burrows fields or the Park Campus.

The club has recently acquired STANDARD CHARTER STATUS with the FA. This recognises that we have a formal Constitution, Codes of Conduct for everyone involved with the club, including spectators, and a comprehensive Child Protection Policy based on FA best practice and properly conducted accounts.

Details of these policies are found elsewhere on the web-site. Having Standard Charter status means; that we can use the logo to promote the standards we have achieved (recognised throughout the football community) and that we receive regular in service training on best practice for our officials and coaches including access to a variety of awards.

Further it means that all of our coaches are CRB checked and have or are attending FA coaching courses to become qualified. Additionally the club organises a First Aid course for all of its coaches before the start of each season.

Teams are managed by parents – we are amateurs! We are always looking for more helpers – ideally we should have qualified coaches and first-aiders. How to get involved.....

About our teams...

The Academy (5-8)
The 5-8 year old groups meet at Leckhampton School on Saturday mornings from 11:00 to 12:30.

The teams focus on coaching and friendly games between each other in the early stages and then progress to play friendly games and tournaments with other teams in the Cheltenham area.

Details of The Academy are available here.

U9’s and U10’s (7 aside)
For the Under 9s and 10s we have MINI- SOCCER. Teams are registered to play in the Cheltenham Youth League with games played on Saturday mornings.

Matches are played at various venues around the Cheltenham area. Our teams train at Cheltenham College in Thirlestone Road on Wednesday evenings between 6-7pm during the winter and at either Leckhampton Primary School or at Park Campus Gloucester UNI on Saturday mornings.

11 Aside for the U11’s to u16’s
The Under 11s to Under 16 teams play 11-a-side. We have a number of teams registered in the league with games played on Sunday afternoons.

Home grounds are either Naunton Park or the Burrows playing fields. These teams also train on Wednesday evenings on the astro turf at either Cheltenham College, or at Balcarras School.

Our U16's team from 2008/09 won the league title again to cap a remarkable team history. Full details are available here.
